Advent is the start of Christmas season in Britain. It begings four Sundays befor Christmas.
The first sign of Christmas in a British home is a children's advent calendar. It starts on the first day of December. The calendars are a fun way to help children to know when Christmas Eve will arrive, an important night for them, because Father Christmas will bring them gifts.
An Advent calendar is a poster or card with twenty-four small doors, one to be opened each day December 1 until Christmas Eve. Each door hides a picture. Every morning children open one window of the calendar to see a pretty picture or to find a chocolate inside.

Have a good time at Christmas with pupils in Pontecorvo!
On 8th December we usually put crib, Christmas tree and beautuful decorations in our houses. You can also see the cribs n the principals squares of our town. Each discrict has its own crib. The 6th January is a special day - it is Epiphany Day. In the afternoon three men dressed up as Magi take some presents to baby Jesus in the crib of Piazza Annunziata. Later an old woman called "Befana" arrives. She is very ugly but good. She brings some sweets and colourful balloons to children.
